Metal Jacketed Gaskets: The Ultimate Sealing Solution for Demanding Applications

Asian Sealing Products understands that the reliability of your sealing components is paramount in critical industrial processes. We offer premium Metal Jacketed Gaskets engineered to provide robust sealing performance in high-pressure, high-temperature, or corrosive environments.

A metal jacketed gasket is characterized by its metallic outer shell paired with a compressed fiber filler, which can be either metallic or non-metallic. In this design, the filler material provides resilience, while the metal jacket safeguards the filler, offering resistance against pressure, temperature fluctuations, and corrosion.

What Makes Metal Jacketed Gaskets Ideal?

  • Exceptional Resilience: Featuring a soft, compressible filler material within a durable metal jacket, these gaskets offer superior resistance to crushing, blowout, and leakage
  • Customization: Metal Jacketed Gaskets can be fabricated in various shapes, sizes, and filler materials to match your precise application requirements, ensuring a perfect fit and optimal seal integrity.
  • Extended Service Life: The robust construction of these gaskets translates to a longer lifespan compared to traditional gasket materials, reducing downtime and maintenance costs.

Key Benefits for Your Operations:

  • Minimized Leaks: Metal-jacketed gaskets’ superior sealing capabilities significantly reduce the risk of leaks, preventing hazardous spills, costly product loss, and environmental contamination.
  • Enhanced Safety: Their exceptional performance in extreme conditions promotes plant safety, protecting personnel and assets
  • Regulatory Compliance: Metal jacketed gaskets help meet stringent industry standards and regulations, ensuring your operations remain compliant.

  • Good blow-out resistance
  • Comprising of soft filler encapsulated by a metal jacket and insert. Designed for use on high temperature and pressure applications
  • Economical
  • Basic with added strength from metallic jacket
  • Metal jacket provides increased gasket stability and blow-out resistance
  • Chemical resistance to a wide range of media can be accommodated by a selection of a suitable metals
  • Double-jacketed gaskets are probably the most commonly used style of gaskets in heat exchanger applications
  • These gaskets are available in virtually any material that is commercially available in 26-gauge sheet
  • Double-jacketed gaskets are also extensively used in standard flanges where the service is not critical
  • Since most double-jacketed gaskets are custom made, there is virtually no limit to size, shape or configuration in which these gaskets can be made
  • The double-jacketed corrugated gasket is an improvement on a plain-jacketed gasket
  • The corrugations on the gasket will provide an additional labyrinth seal
  • Provides the advantage of reducing the contact area of the gasket, enhancing its compressive characteristics
  • A double-jacketed corrugated gasket still relies on the primary seal on the inner lap
  • The Corrugated Metal Gaskets family of products are the standard in respect to corrugated metal gasket technology
  • These gaskets are an excellent choice for 150 and 300 class ASME flanges where available bolt loading is minimal
  • The substrate geometry promotes recovery and resilience through thermal cycles and extended service life
  • Corrugated Metal Gaskets can be direct replacements for Spiral Wound Gaskets
  • Eliminates inward buckling issues while creating a seal at moderate flange stresses
  • Constructed of soft filler completely enclosed in a single jacket
  • Ideal for applications where the width does not permit the use of a double-jacketed gasket

FAQ's

Metal gaskets may leak due to inadequate surface preparation, improper installation techniques, insufficient bolt torque, flange misalignment, or damage to the gasket material.

A metal gasket seals by utilizing the inherent strength and deformability of the metal material to create a tight seal between two mating surfaces. When compressed between the flanges, the metal gasket undergoes plastic deformation, filling in surface imperfections and creating a barrier that prevents fluid or gas leakage.

In most cases, metal gaskets do not require additional sealant or gasket compound. Metal gaskets’ ability to deform and conform to flange surfaces, provides adequate sealing without the use of sealant. However, in certain applications or when specifically recommended by the manufacturer, a sealant or gasket compound may be used. It is important to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations and guidelines regarding the use of sealant, if necessary.

Our metal jacketed gaskets offer versatility in manufacturing with the ability to adopt various configurations. These gaskets commonly incorporate a non-asbestos, high-temperature gasket material filler suitable for applications reaching up to 900°F (482°C). For elevated temperatures or specific applications, alternative soft fillers are also accessible. The standard metals utilized in crafting jacketed gaskets include aluminum, copper, brass steel, nickel, Monel®, Inconel®, and stainless steel variations such as types 304, 316, 321, 347, and 410. The selection of jacket metal is contingent upon the specific service conditions encountered.
