Insulation Gasket

Flange Insulation Gaskets for High Pressure asian sealing

Flange insulation gasket kits are crucial in ensuring the integrity and safety of flange connections in various industries. These kits provide a reliable barrier between the flange faces, preventing galvanic corrosion, electrolytic action, and fluid leakage. As a trusted flange gasket manufacturer and exporter, we are dedicated to providing superior products that meet your sealing requirements.

Key Features and Benefits of  Insulation Gasket

  • Corrosion Protection: Our flange insulation gasket kits are designed to prevent galvanic corrosion caused by dissimilar metals. The insulating materials act as a barrier, preventing direct contact between the flange faces and effectively reducing the risk of deterioration.
  • Electrical Isolation: Flange gaskets offer excellent electrical insulation properties, preventing any unwanted current flow between flange faces. This insulation capability is crucial in applications where electrical continuity needs to be maintained or stray currents can pose a safety hazard.
  • Leak Prevention: The gaskets in our insulation kits are specially designed to provide a reliable seal, preventing fluid leakage and ensuring leak-free operations.
  • Versatility and Customization: Flange insulation gasket kits are manufactured in a variety of sizes, materials, and configurations to suit different flange specifications and application requirements, ensuring a perfect fit for your project.

Types & Parts of Flange Gaskets

Flanges, the most common trouble area, need to be sealed properly to prevent leakage and must also be cathodically isolated to prevent stray currents which cause undo corrosion and eventual breakdown of the metal. ASP Manufactures and maintains a supply of quality products and materials which help solve most flange sealing problems, therefore preventing subsequent corrosion and saving the integrity of the pipeline. Flange Isolation Gasket Kits are manufactured according to ANSI B16.5 specifications up to 144”.

TYPE E (FULL FACE TYPE GASKET) Type E is a full-face gasket with the same outside diameter as the flange and precision cut bolt holes. This design facilitates proper alignment of the gasket during installation and foreign material prevented from shorting the flange isolation. Type E gaskets are available in plain face or Nitrile faced phenolic, as well as a variety of high .

TYPE F (raised face TYPE GASKET) Type F gaskets are made to fit the raised face portion of the flange only. As there are no bolt holes in the F gasket, the inside diameter of the bolt hole circle is slightly smaller than the outside diameter of the gasket, assuring an exact, automatic positioning of the gasket. Type F gaskets are available in the same materials as the type E gasket. Standard thickness of 1/8”.

Installation Procedure :

To install a flange insulation gasket kit effectively, follow these step-by-step guidelines:

  • Preparation: Ensure all necessary tools and equipment are readily available. Clean the flange surfaces thoroughly, removing any dirt, rust, or residual material that could affect the gasket’s performance.
  • Gasket Placement: Position the insulation gasket on the flange face, aligning it with the bolt holes. Ensure that the gasket fully covers the sealing surface and does not overlap with the bolt holes.
  • Washer and Sleeve Installation: Install the washers and sleeves over the bolts. Make sure the washers cover the entire bolt head, while the sleeves cover the bolt threads. These components help maintain electrical isolation and protect the insulation gasket.
  • Bolt Tightening: Begin tightening the bolts, ensuring a uniform and controlled torque. Use a calibrated torque wrench to achieve the recommended bolt load as specified by the flange manufacturer or industry standards.
  • Final Checks: After tightening all the bolts, inspect the flange joint for proper alignment, gasket compression, and bolt insulation integrity. Ensure that no components are damaged or misaligned.
Product Details
  • Provides complete protection for both flange faces
  • Comes with the same outside diameter of the flanges. Hence, the foreign material collection between the flange faces is prevented
  • Ensures complete cathodic isolation
  • The E gaskets are available in Plain faced Phenolic, Neoprene faced Phenolic and high temperature material like G-10
  • Designed to fit only onto the raised face surface of the flanges
  • Outside diameter of the gasket is slightly lesser than the inside diameter of bolt circle
  • For best results, the flanges must be wrapped with Flange Band Protectors. So foreign materials are prevented from collecting and creating a bridge, thus shorting out the isolation
  • Available in same material as Type E
  • Designed to fit into the ring groove of RTJ flanges
  • Available in Phenolic and G10 material types
  • We use a machined glass-reinforced epoxy (GRE) resin with an O-ring or spring energised seal to produce this insulation set
  • These gaskets can be used for flange ratings from class 150 to 600
  • Improvises compressive strength over conventional insulation sets
  • Provides greater resistance to over compression and cracking
  • Highly reliable for both insulating and general sealing purposes in critical services
  • These gaskets have a proven track record of integrity in aggressive sealing situations
  • Suitable in all services up to and including ANSI 2500# and API 15,000# classes
  • Metal Core with G10/G11 gaskets consists of a PTFE (Teflon) spring-energized face seal, or an elastomeric o-ring
  • Accommodated in an insulating laminate that is permanently bonded to a high-strength metal gasket core

FAQ's

A flange gasket is a mechanical seal used to fill the space between two flanges in order to prevent leakage from or into the joined objects while under compression. Flanges are components used to connect pipes, valves, pumps, and other equipment in various industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, water treatment, and more. Flange connections are widely used because they provide a secure and leak-resistant joint between two separate components.

Flange insulation gasket kits are widely used in industries such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, chemical processing, power generation, water treatment, and offshore installations.

A flange insulation kit functions by forming a barrier between the flange faces. It separates the flange components with insulating gaskets and sleeves, providing both physical and electrical insulation.

The manufacturer usually specifies the thickness, but it can be customized to meet the specific needs of the project. Insulating gasket thicknesses can range from 1/16 inch (1.6 mm) to 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) or even thicker in some cases.

F, E, D, and O gasket isolation kits differ in terms of their design and construction- the geometry, materials, and thickness of the insulating components. Each type is designed to meet specific industry standards and requirements, with varying levels of electrical insulation and corrosion resistance.

The choice of gasket isolation kit depends on factors such as flange size, pressure rating, and the specific requirements of the application. It is advisable to consult with the manufacturer or supplier to determine the most suitable kit for your specific needs.
